Everything you want to know before applying

What is the eligibility for B.Tech Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and Food Technology?

Class 12 pass with Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) — or PCB with Mathematics. Minimum 50% aggregate (45% for reserved categories). JEE Main, CUET or IILMEEE score required. All three B.Tech programmes are open to both PCB and PCM students.

What is the difference between B.Tech Biotechnology and B.Tech Bioinformatics?

Biotechnology is more wet-lab and experimental — you engineer biological systems to develop medicines, vaccines and sustainable materials. Bioinformatics uses computational tools (Python, ML, AI) to analyse biological data — genome sequences, protein structures, clinical datasets. If you're stronger in biology and hands-on lab work, choose Biotechnology. If you prefer coding and data, choose Bioinformatics. Your admissions counsellor will help you choose on the callback.

Is M.Tech available after completing B.Tech from IILM?

Yes. IILM offers M.Tech Biotechnology and M.Tech Bioinformatics for graduates with B.Tech, B.Sc. or equivalent qualifications. GATE qualification is preferred and may open scholarship options. Both programmes are 2-year full-time with a research thesis component in Year 2.

Is scholarship support available for PCB students?

Yes — merit scholarships from 30% up to 100% tuition waiver for top JEE / CUET / board scorers. Students with ≥85% in Class 12 (PCB) automatically qualify for a 30% tuition waiver. Need-based financial aid and EMI options are also available. All scholarship eligibility is confirmed during the admissions counselling call.

Is hostel accommodation available?

Yes — separate, secure hostels for boys and girls with Wi-Fi, mess, gym and 24/7 medical support within the Greater Noida campus. Approximately ₹90,000/year. Popular with students from UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and Haryana.

Can I pursue a Ph.D. after M.Tech from IILM?

Yes. IILM offers Ph.D. programmes in both Biotechnology and Bioinformatics for candidates with M.Tech, M.Sc. or equivalent qualifications. UGC-NET or GATE qualification is preferred. Ph.D. candidates have access to the same industry labs and computing facilities as UG and PG students, with additional research funding options.
